What is artist support?

I asked a few fellow artist about what artist support mean to them. The answers where slightly different depending on the persons life & family situations, but we can divided the support into FINANCIAL and PERSONAL support.

FINANCIAL FUNDING is important, both for development of process & a new body of work, both also for showing & selling work. It is also important for income in form project employment of artists by a organisation (ie.workshops and classes). Financial support can also come in form of a residences, funded mentoring or help for studio rent.

PERSONAL support seems to be almost more important according to this intervju of 4 artist. Personal support can be accessed through funding or through self organised support. The need of peer support and exchange seem to be on the priority list. Collective studios (physical space), artist collectives (discussions around work and exhibiting possibilities), networking situations as well as discussion about life as an artsist is a few needs that was mentioned.
